Leith Festival's developing Youth Strand was at the heart of the launch this year. The Pulse of the Place Samba Band teamed up with the 21st Century Dance School, while other featured artists were the Young Leithers, the Phelan Dance School, Samsoir Celtic Dance Company, wheelchair dancer Jessie Csere, and Sing for Smiles Vocal School . Not to be outdone by the youngsters, Twisted Tails ATS bellydance group embraced this year's Monster theme with two barnstorming performances, and Tony Delicate led the Leith Community Theatre's players in getting the whole Kirkgate up and dancing. The event took place on Friday June 10th 2011.
