Harris Tweed is cloth that has been handwoven by the islanders of Lewis, Harris, Uist and Barra in their homes, using pure virgin wool that has been dyed and spun in the Outer Hebrides. All cloth is certified with the Harris Tweed Orb symbol by the Harris Tweed Authority as bona fide, is the world’s only commercially produced handwoven tweed, and is of course a Scottish product with a long and colourful history, known the world round. It's production, sale and future is overseen by the Harris Tweed Authority which was created by Act of Parliament in 1993.
