Thousands of women from all over South Scotland gathered to remember loved ones lost to cancer and to run jog and walk a 10k course round Salisbury Crags to raise money for Cancer Research. The date was a misty Midsummer Sunday morning, June 28th; the venue was Edinburgh's historic Holyrood Park.
All women ran with notes attached to their back, some with photos, which declared who they were running for - some lost to cancer, some surviving. After the run, these were put up on a kind of memorial fence. One runner shared that running behind people, and glimsping their stories was a very emotional part of the day's experience.
